SYNOPSIS : Fremantle Prison in Western Australia was one of the toughest correctional institutions in the world until it closed in 1991. This documentary tells the story of the prison and the people who were sent there, and how they tried to survive their sentences. It depicts a tragic story of wasted lives. But, at the same time, it shows the incredible creativity of some of the inmates and the legacy of many hundreds of incredible paintings they left behind on the prison walls.
